When you buy a classic car insurance policy, you are essentially purchasing protection for those times when - God forbid and knock on wood it doesn't happen - disaster strikes in the form of a fire, a collision, or an act of theft or vandalism. Just as we now have modern airbags to save us in the event of a crash, we also have collector's car insurance, to protect us with adequate moneybags when calamity throws a wrench in the works.
Classic car insurance is called different things by different people. Some call it Vintage car insurance, others call it Antique auto insurance or Collector car insurance and some call it old car insurance. The term classic car is often used to describe interesting old vehicle, purists often use the terms to describe pre 1950’s vehicles, foreign or domestic, that were already luxurious and expensive in their day.

Collector Car Insurance and Classic Car Insurance
If you are fortunate enough to own a classic car – or any collectible automobile – then you want to ensure that your luck does not run out because of having inadequate insurance coverage. Call it covering your butt – or covering your “asset” – but by all means, call one of the major providers such as American Collectors, Haggerty, or Parish Heacock insurance companies and let them put you in the driver’s seat in terms of professional protection of your cherished automotive investment.
Classic Car Insurance Quote
A few more pointers before you get yourself a quote. Whether you own a Mustang, Camaro, Challenger or other pony car, deciding on the highest deductible you are able to pay, will make a big difference on getting low premiums. The higher the deductible, the lower the premium. Unless your car is a classic in name only, I don't recommend having no collision coverage.
Join a car club. Members of car clubs sometimes can get lower premiums.
Install a security device and car alarm. Classics with immobilizer type units usually see cheaper insurance rates.
Store your vehicle in a secure area or locked garage.
