Student Health Insurance

This page is intended to provide individuals in Canada with general information about student health insurance. Are you in school? If so, then you probably spend most of your time thinking about parties, friends, classes, and more parties. You may also be concerned about college or university expenses. Whatever it is that preoccupies your mind, your student health insurance is probably not on top of your to-do list. However, if you’re over 18, there is a chance that you are no longer covered by your parent’s health insurance policy once you have left home.

1.  Students Provincial Health Care Insurance

* Out of province students should inform their provincial health care insurer that they are now attending Olds College for the specific time you will be here.  Your provincial health insurer may require proof of registration.  If they do, you should take the form to Student Services in DMP.

* Phone Alberta Health Care to obtain provincial health care coverage if you do not have any provincial health care insurance.

* Subsidy Forms for the Health Care premiums are available in Health Services.

* Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan

2.  Olds College Students Association Insurance (OCSA)

* All students are required to have this insurance plan or may remain on their parent’s insurance plan if proof of coverage is shown to the OCSA insurance agent.

* This insurance is in addition to provincial health care insurance and does not replace provincial health care insurance.

Life Insurance Quotes: How Much Does It Cost?

To get an accurate life insurance quote, many variables have to be assessed. Following are a few:

Age: The older you are, the more expensive it gets to purchase life insurance.

Amount of Policy: You can buy practically as much life insurance as you can afford. But, a $250,000 policy is going to cost more than a $25,000 policy.

Health: Many health factors are taken into account when you purchase life insurance (e.g., do you smoke, are you overweight, do you have a family history of certain diseases, etc.).

Safe: No investment is 100% risk free.
