Tips to help us quickly process your insurance applications

Top tips for timely business

Submitting an application

1. Include required signatures and include corporate
signatures if they apply.
2. Be sure to send us all of the pages in the application,
even pages that you have not written information on.
3. It’s important to return all of the pages except ones
that need to be left with your client, such as the
Medical Information Bureau authorization slip.
4. In particular, we need the “Authorizations, agreements
and signatures” pages, which will be returned to your
client in their contract.
5. If the insured is under 16 (age 18 in Quebec), be sure
to get a parent or guardian’s signature and check the
box showing their relationship to the minor.

Including medical information

1. Ensure the name on the application and the name
provided to the paramedical nurse is identical. For
example, Joseph William G. Smith and Bill Smith will not
automatically match up in our system … use the same
spelling that appears on your client’s driver’s licence.
2.Send Manulife the T-bar code for the lab results,
if you know an initial review has been completed
and you are aware labs are completed.
3. Request a Med Share on the Advisor’s report, if you
have applied for insurance elsewhere … this saves time.
4. Make sure all questions are completed in the Medical
Information section, especially under “Your family
medical history” for both life and critical illness
insurance … selling critical illness is easier as a result.
5.Include the family doctor’s information in the
“About your doctor or clinic” section.
6. Include additional explanations and information as
requested … this avoids delays and having to ask
you once it’s in underwriting.

Getting the payment right

Attach an initial cheque and pre-authorized
chequing information if your clients qualify for
Temporary Insurance.
1. For the initial premium, list application/policy
numbers on the back of the cheque.
2. Indicate how the money is to be applied to
each policy, when you submit a cheque to settle
multiple applications.
3. Attach client’s ‘VOID’ personal cheque to the
application or include the banking information
for all new automatic withdrawal arrangements.
